New Lightweight Thermoplastic Composite Panels
CFRT facing PET foam core composite panels are new type of thermoplastic sandwich panels developed by TOPOLO. It is mainly made of CFRT sheet as skin and PET foam as core material through thermal lamination. At present, most thermoplastic composite panels on the market are polypropylene honeycomb core panels. The emergence of CFRT PET sandwich panels has replaced the applications that thermoplastic honeycomb panels are not qualified for.

Advantages
- Lightweight: Low density and thin thickness.
- Waterproof: CFRT sheets and PET foam basically does not absorb water and can maintain stable performance in humid environments.
- High Strength: Combining the high elasticity of CFRT sheets with the high hardness of PET foam.
- Not Easy to Crack: Thermal lamination process is more stable and reliable than adhesive process.
- Flat Surface: Compared with thermoplastic honeycomb panel composite panel, its surface is smoother and can achieve a mirror effect.
- Affordable: The price of PET foam is lower than other foams (XPS, PU, PVC, etc.).
- Recyclable: CFRT sheets and PET foam are 100% recyclable, which is in line with sustainable development.
Specifications
Skin | CFRT (Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic) sheet. |
Core | PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foam. |
Surface Treatment | Glossy/matt. |
Thickness | 6.0~120mm. |
Width | Max 2.8m. |
Length | Max 12m. |
Schematic Diagram
- The surface of the CFRT sheet is covered with a protective film to enhance its anti-scratch performance and provide aesthetic effects.
- The middle layer consists of multiple layers of UD tapes laid in different directions. (usually 2~3 layers)
- The non-woven fabric at the bottom allows it to be well combined with other material systems.

Closed-cell PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foam has a closed, fine bubble structure, which means the spaces between the bubbles are sealed and do not allow gas or liquid to penetrate. This property gives closed-cell PET foam some unique advantages, such as excellent insulation properties, water resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical strength.

Processing Flow of CFRT PET Sandwich Panels

The difference between CFRT PET sandwich panels and other foam core sandwich panels is that they are composited by hot melting rather than adhesives. This makes the processing of PET composite panels more efficient, and the CFRT sheet and PET foam are more closely combined, and are not affected by high and low temperatures to cause problems such as cracking and deformation.
Application Areas
CFRT PET sandwich panels are widely used in RVs, trucks, boats, mobile homes, furniture, public transportation, aviation, medical, sports, solar energy and other fields. It can be used as wall panels, floors, ceilings, partitions, cabinets, desktops, back panels, etc.
